What a day this has been! For me it kind of started at 4:30 am (yes a.m.). I had to get up and deliver Janie to the church to leave for her mission trip. At this point they have arrived and are at their hotel. They start working tomorrow spreading God's wonderful love.
Karmin's day started about 10:30 am. After getting dressed and having a bite to eat we headed to Lowe's. They just love us there. We were on a mission to buy supplies for our chicken coop. It took us about an hour and one employee helping us twice before we went to the check out lane. I know my husband loves hearing that. As he reads this he is thinking - I am missing all the fun! We bought wire, post, our own hammer and five gallon buckets. You are asking yourself what the buckets are for? What do they have to do with a chicken coop, right? Well, for making a waterer and a feeder for the chickens of course. We started to head to the cabin. But for some reason the truck turned toward Toccoa.
Karmin is very excited about having chickens. So we decided to go over to the Tractor Supply store and get two. Our others will not be here for a few weeks. We got there to find every one of the chicks were gone. Karmin was kinda sad about that. Back to Habersham we go. We end up at a feed store in town and they have chicks. You guessed it. We have two in a box in the house. They are a week old and too small to be outside. Good thing because we are still working on the coop. They are very cute. When they grow up they will lay brown eggs.
We finally got to eat supper at 8 pm. What a fun filled day we had.
Update: We saw the cat three times today. Did it leave the cabin? NO! Just stayed at the door.

Karmin has named the chicks. Welcome Millie and Kazza to the family.
Love what you are doing with it all. Can hardly wait to see the finished results. I know it's a work in progress. :)
ReplyDeleteMade me want to go out and get a chick. Ha ha ha
Very cool! Looks like you know what you're doing!
ReplyDeletePence's has lots of baby chicks. And, they have all the stuff you need for garden and all things chickens. So does that place by Country Cross roads.
ReplyDeleteThanks :)
ReplyDeleteMake sure you have a light on the chicks for warmth. Temp should be 95-100 for the first week then 5 degrees less each week to get them ready to go outside at about 6 weeks of age. We also purchased 6 baby chicks from Pence.
