Sitting in the creek.

Melissa and I decided that we would make a trip to the creek this past Sunday.  So I got out the lawn mower and started mowing us a path.  We took some clippers with us too.  After having to restart the mower a few times because the grass/weeds were so thick we finally made it to the creek.  We cut down some dead limbs and others thick things that were in our way.  Into the creek we went. The water was a bit chilly. We sat on a rock with our feet in the water. I was smart and wore my old shoes. Melissa had to go in barefooted.  As we sat there talking I told her to be on the look out for snakes.  We laughed about how funny it would be if a bear came through the brush and what we might do.  The next thing I know Melissa is telling me something  got her toe as she jumped up. I told her things float down the creek all the time and it was probably just a leaf. She insisted that something "got" her toe. So I stood up to get a better look and guess what?? There was a crawfish! I guess it came from under the rock for some fresh meat.  I tried to catch it but it got away.  We did see some little fish swimming around. Would be nice if they grow up and end up on my dinner plate.  Heck, if we can find enough crawfish we could have a low country boil!
