Karmin's Flower Garden

The flowers have really grown. They are so colorful and pretty. Karmin did have some help from family and friends in her garden.

Turtles

We were able to save two turtles this week. One we saved from getting ran over in the road. The other I saw as I was mowing the grass. Poor little fellow was running for his life. They are both living happily at the cabin.

A Girl and Her Chickens!!

One happy girl and two happy chickens!

Millie and Kazza really missed Karmin. They were very upset each day when I arrived at the cabin and Karmin was not there. They would look for her and call for her. They were so happy to see her after three weeks.

Times flies when you are busy!!

Things sure have taken off in the garden. It seems that every thing we planted has done really well. The rattlesnake beans produced about ¾ of a bushel. I was able to get four pickings off the burgundy beans. I have picked the black beans once and will pick them again this weekend. The squash and zucchini produced enough for the freezer and some to eat and share. The lima beans are ready to pick this weekend and the pinto beans are still growing. Our tomatoes are doing GREAT (all 62 plants are still alive)!! The peppers are growing their fair share with the purple peppers producing the best so far. Cucumbers have grown like mad along with our watermelon and cantaloupe.

Let’s see - - I have made sweet and dill pickles, sweet cucumber relish, sweet cucumber and squash relish, corn salsa, black bean salsa, wild blackberry jam, and grape butter (made with fresh grapes from a friend). I have dried black beans, rattlesnake beans, cantaloupe and tomatoes.

Am I finished you ask? Oh no! There is pizza sauce, ketchup and much more to be made.

The garden is not the only thing taken off. Our new chicks have really grown. They are so very cute. When Karmin got home from camp they went from living in the coop to living at the house. Yes, we are back to chicks in the tub : )

Flowers around the garden.
