Sick???

I started this blog so my husband could see what was going on with the cabin when he was in Afghanistan. The army would not allow access to this site. They said it was a social risk but allowed access to facebook--crazy.

The cabin is coming along. We moved all the bantams here so we stay here too. No living room furniture yet but we do have the kitchen table. Karmin has her room about finished. You know, the only room that is finished it the laundry room. All other rooms are "about" finished :)

Karmin has been sick for months. I took her to the doctor many times. They ran blood test each time and they all came back negative. I was telling a friend about what was going on. She suggested that we see her holistic doctor for a hair analysis. I did not have to think about it I just made the appointment. We got the kit and sent off Karmin's hair.  It only took a week and the results were in. We were shocked at what the test showed. Our regular doctor had done one more set of blood test. The doctor told the lab to check her blood stream for the mono virus. There was a slight amount of the virus present. He told us that she was at the end of the virus and she should be back to normal soon.

The results of the hair analysis showed what was really going on. Karmin has no potassium in her system so her thyroid was not being nourished. Many of her minerals and vitamins are out of balance.  She has had no energy and falls asleep at the drop of a hat. Makes since now because her adrenal glands are not functioning properly.

The most shocking news was the level of toxins in her system. I never thought that my child would have high levels of poisons in her system. Karmin has extremely high levels of aluminum, beryllium, and arsenic (yes, you did read that right). Where did these come from? We may never know. We had our water test and no bacteria showed up. I am going to see if there is a test for the other things. Some of the high levels of minerals can come from animal feed.

We are making some major changes. We were already trying to eat a healthier diet. So now we will just get there a little faster.

It seems that Satan has been attacking us from all sides. I know God will take care of everything.

No, I never thought........

No, I never thought that chickens would be running to meet me when I pulled into the drive way.

No, I never thought that chickens would be chasing my car as I was backing out of the driveway.

NO, I never thought I would be saying, "Queen Elizabeth get off my car!"

Button Quail

Our feathered family keeps growing. Karmin received her first pair of button Quail yesterday. They are the cutest little birds. Karmin has them all cozy in her room.

Thanks Elaine and Michael.

This is the little boy.

So tiny!

The Incredible Egg!

Just what can you do with a farm fresh egg?  I am sure you could use a store bought egg but who want all those chemicals?  We all know you can eat eggs. If you have never eaten a farm fresh egg you have no idea what you are missing. YES, they do taste different. Below is just a short list of what you can do with eggs.

1. Freeze farm fresh eggs for the winter. God made a hen's body to slow down or maybe even stop producing eggs in the winter. Their body needs to regenerate for the next laying season.

2. Egg white is naturally sticky. Use egg whites when mending light items like paper and cardboard.

3. Yolk facial cleanser. Just mix a couple of yolks with a little water and you have a natural facial cleanser.

4. Egg white mask. Whip up a few egg whites and spread them on your face. Let it dry and then rinse with warm water.

5. Egg shell planters. Use leftover egg shells to plant seeds in. Once the plant is ready for the garden just plant the whole thing. The calcium from the shell is good for your plant.

6. Egg yolk paint. Mix one yolk with 2ml of water and add the food color of your choice and mix. Now paint cool patterns on your cookies before you bake them. Your cookies will look great and have a richer flavor.

7. You can always use the egg shells in your compost pile.

These are just a few of the things that i know you can use eggs for. I am sure there are many more. Let us know if you try any of the ideas and how it worked.
